How We Create A Swimsuit Using The Hybrid Method

First and foremost, I have always been a creator. Commerce comes second. I know that that is a terrible thing to admit as a business woman. But I’d be lying if I said selling was my favorite thing. That’s why it delights me to share the behind the scenes videos in our new(ish) #WorkshopWednesday series on Instagram.

Each week I take you into the design studio to demonstrate a different aspect of the design, construction or fitting process. I also love to share info about the trims, fabrics, and any components of our swimwear. It’s part education, part sharing of my journey.

This week I used a hybrid method of draping the top of a one piece swimsuit into an existing bottom. The bikini bottom was created using the pattern making method, and it turned out just beautifully. But in order to create the top, which I envisioned as a loose and flowy fit, I realized that draping the spandex onto the mannequin would be the optimal method. Watch as a build the suit.

What do you guys think? Any of you designers or creators out there have a preference in method? We’d love to hear about it.
