Snowy Day: Vol. III

Homebound Today?  We have some cool stuff for you...

It's here, one of the largest snowfalls of the season, and mid-March at that.  You know we love to share fun snowy day activities with you guys.  Here are some artsy ideas to get into in our third addition of 'Snowy Day.'

Try Your Hand at Paper Lamp Shades

We are big fans of natural and mood lighting.  You won't find any rectangular fluorescent bulbs in our design studio.  Draping the soft light in beautiful adornments only makes the room warmer and more welcoming.  There are a plethora of DIY lantern out there.  The one pictured is easy to make and requires only a few materials.

Watch the step by step paper lantern making video tutorial  here.

Redo Your Denim

We all have those favorite jeans that we've worn season in and out.   However, at a certain point, something fresh is always welcomed.  This season is a great opportunity to give new life to your favorite denim.  With frayed and deconstructed jeans all the rage in street style, why not rework your favorite pair?

Make Some Homemade Ice Cream

Here is what you'll need:

  1. 1 cup milk (we recommend using a can of coconut cream instead for a vegan option)
  2. 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  3. 1 tsp. vanilla extract, store-bought or homemade.
  4. 1 pinch salt.
  5. 8 cups clean snow or shaved ice (more or less depending on the density of the snow)

Whisk the ingredients together in a large mixing bowl until combined.  Then pop the bowl in the freezer while you run outside to get your snow.

Immediately stir the snow into the milk mixture, and keep adding until an ice-cream-ish consistency is achieved.  It should be fluffy and scoop-able, but not runny.

Scoop it up quickly, because homemade ice cream melts in a hurry.  Add some fresh berries or sprinkles to brighten up your homemade dessert.
