Micro-finance is an important part of every small business. It can be described in many ways, but the way I most appreciate its value is in the context of financial equality for all. Micro-finance as a movement encompasses the notion that access and opportunity should be available to entrepreneurs around the world regardless of economic status. This access to financial know-how is inclusive of not only credit, but savings, insurance, and transfer of funds. Through providing access to capital, micro-finance allows different populations to rise above their circumstances. It is, in essence, a vehicle for change.
I was honored to speak at a micro-finance event held by Kiva Zip in conjunction with the Women's Affinity Group of Nixon Peabody. It was a fabulous event held at the NP headquarters in Manhattan. Women gathered to talk about business and the entrepreneurial spirit. Mirame's work was on display, showcasing our four collections of swimwear. We also spoke about the launch of our newest endeavor, Mirame Move (launching 11/29).
